November 01, 2014 01:27 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 04:44 pm IST - LUCKNOW:

Notably, Mr. Khan had asked the Union Home Minister to take serious note of the RSS view all citizens of the country were Hindus.

The BJP on Friday dared senior Uttar Pradesh Minister Azam Khan to ban the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) after he recently wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh alleging that the saffron outfit was conspiring to disturb peace and promoting animosity.

“It seems that Azam Khan is losing his mental balance. He has his government in the state…If he has the guts, then he should ban RSS. Why is he telling the Centre? His party is in power in the state, then he should sign an order (banning the RSS),” BJP state unit president Laxmi Kant Bajpai told journalists here.

Notably, Mr. Khan had asked the Union Home Minister to take serious note of the RSS view all citizens of the country were Hindus.

“According to me this is not only harmful to the amity and brotherhood but is also in a way against the spirit of the Constitution. It has also led to fear among the minority Muslims that their rights might be taken away anytime,” Mr. Khan had said in his letter.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bajpai said the party would launch a membership drive to add 50 lakh new members by March next year. “We target to add 50 lakh new members during the membership campaign with focus on women and youth…Prime Minister Narendra Modi and national president Amit Shah will launch the campaign in Delhi, while Rajnath Singh will launch it in Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
