Andrew Simkin hails efforts to preserve heritage

Andrew T. Simkin, U.S. Consul General in Chennai, on Friday called on Lieutenant Governor Iqbal Singh and Chief Minister V. Vaithilingam separately.

In a release, Officer on Special Duty to the Lieutenant Governor J. P Singh stated that it was a courtesy call. The Consul General and Lieutenant Governor exchanged greetings.

The Consul General mentioned about the rich culture of India and he appreciated the efforts of the government in conserving the distinct heritage of Puducherry.

The Consul General said the U.S. and India shared common values and interests. Both countries had immense potential for working together in the fields of education, tourism, trade and commerce.

Joint efforts

The countries faced common threat of terrorism and with joint efforts it would be possible to overcome this “global menace,” the release said quoting the Consul General.
