8 of marriage party killed as bus catches fire

Eight people, including four women and two children, were killed and 10 others injured when a private bus carrying a wedding party caught fire near the Shedgaon turning on the Nagpur–Chandrapur highway in the early hours of Saturday.

According to the Wardha police, the marriage party was returning from Nagpur when the bus suddenly caught fire at 2.30 a.m. Six of the dead belonged to Wardha and the other two were from Nagpur. The injured have been sent to the Hinghaghat hospital. The driver, the cleaner and some passengers escaped from the burning bus. The cause of the fire is not known yet.
