Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday said that about 5,000 inmates of relief camps set up by the government in Golaghat district after violence over the disputed Assam-Nagaland boundary returned to their villages.

Mr. Gogoi refuted the allegation by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Sports and Skill Development Sarbananda Sonowal that security forces were not able to enter the villages in the affected areas and accused Mr. Sonowal of “doing politics” over incidents over the disputed boundary between the two States.

The Union Minister also urged the Chief Minister of both States to jointly visit the boundary to build confidence among the people of the affected areas.
