32 killed as bus falls into Beas in Himachal

As many as 32 persons were killed and over a dozen injured when a private bus on its way from Kullu to Ani plunged into the Beas between Jhiri and Nagwain in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

There were 45 to 50 passengers on board. Most of the victims were trapped inside the vehicle that fell upside down.

Governor Urmila Singh, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, Leader of the Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal and State BJP chief Satpal Satti expressed grief over the accident and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family members.

The district administration has announced Rs. 15,000 each as immediate relief to the kin of deceased and Rs. 5,000 to the injured.
