3 engineers drown

Five persons including three engineers were found dead in two separate incidents of drowning in the State on Sunday.

Early in the morning, three bodies were recovered from a pond near Bada Mahitala village under Nisha police station in Angul district. Later, bodies were identified to be of three engineers who were working in nearby in Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL).

According to Nisha Police Station, the deceased engineers, Avtar Saroila from Punjab, Samir Nigam from Uttar Pradesh and Manoj Yadav from Rajasthan, had a feast near the pond on Saturday night. Police sources said they had consumed liquor while having dinner. Subsequently, in an inebriated condition they went to take bath in the pond and in the process they drowned.
