Tripura has created history with 93 per cent polling in the Assembly elections held on Thursday, with officials saying the turnout was the highest in the country.
Meanwhile, fresh clashes between supporters of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Congress were reported from some places in west Tripura on Friday. At least 20 people sustained injuries in the incidents.
Additional security forces made available to the State were being sent to Nagaland and Meghalaya where Assembly elections are due on February 23. Some contingents of the Central Reserve Police Force will stay back till the counting is completed on February 28.
Election officials on Friday said a little over 93 per cent polling was recorded.
Ampinagar constituency in south Tripura recorded the highest turnout at 96.3 per cent. The Election Commission had to allow voting in 20 polling stations till 11 p.m.
Prohibitory orders are in force in the State.
