2 CPI(M) supporters killed in Lalgarh

Explosives found at Purulia rail station

Two CPI(M) supporters were killed in the Jangalmahal region near Lalgarh in West Bengal late Friday night.

Mahesh Soren (70) and his brother Narayan (62) were killed by suspected Maoists after having been dragged out of their homes, said Manoj Verma, Superintendent of Police, Paschim Medinipur. The bodies were found on the outskirts of their village.

In another incident, a bag containing explosives was found at the Purulia railway station on Friday night, prompting authorities to step up security.

During a routine check, personnel of the Government Railway Police and the Railway Protection Force found the unclaimed bag under the footbridge on platform number 4.
