President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are expected to exercise extreme dietary restraint during their trip to the capital based on the recommendation of an advance security liaison team which has been camping here for over a month, The Hindu has learnt.
According to a source in the intelligence establishment, the Obamas had been requested to take full meals prepared only under the supervision of a specially constituted team formed for the purpose, and those too only in its presence, as opposed to partaking wholeheartedly in the rich Indian food on offer at a string of official functions.
Ingredients and edibles for these meals, beverages and even condiments meant for exclusive consumption by the Obamas were flown to the capital in several batches from the U.S. over the last week with a special contingent of the Intelligence Bureau’s (IB) VIP Security (VS) branch overseeing their off-loading and subsequent transportation to an ‘undisclosed location.’
