Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday condemned CPI(M) leader M. M. Mani's “revelations” about political murders in Kerala and questioned the silence of the National Human Rights Commission and the Centre on the issue.
Reacting to Mr. Mani's speech, published in a section of the press, Mr. Modi said the CPI(M) leader's language read like that of Maoists inciting violence, and described it as the greatest challenge facing democracy in the country.
Calling upon all saviours of democracy to strongly oppose the CPI(M)'s “politics of murders,” Mr. Modi, in a statement here, said it was shocking that Mr. Mani felt proud of proclaiming that the party had the history of murdering political rivals and that it would continue to do so in future.

Mr. Modi alleged that the CPI(M) in Kerala had killed at least 250 volunteers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and because of its politics of murder, the BJP could never win an election in that State.
He said the Centre, the NHRC and other humanitarian organisations must act immediately against such “criminal acts” of the CPI (M) in Kerala.
