Minister for Home Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, who has been keeping a studied silence on the details of the telephonic talks he had with CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan after the conclusion of the siege of the Secretariat recently, has admitted that he had in fact held talks and the issue of inclusion of the Chief Minister’s office under the purview of the judicial inquiry into the solar scam was discussed.
Mr. Radhakrishnan’s acknowledgement comes in the wake of a reported statement made by CPI(M) State secretary here on Friday in Alappuzha to that effect.

The issue had snowballed into a controversy after CPI(M) State secretariat member M.V. Govindan, at a public meeting on August 16 in Kannur, had claimed that his party chief and the Home Minister had a telephonic talk during the Secretariat siege and the latter had assured that the Chief Minister’s office would be brought under the purview of the judicial probe.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday, Mr. Radhakrishnan said he had called Mr. Vijayan at 8.30 p.m. on August 13 to let him know of the goodwill that was created on account of Mr.Vijayan’s direct involvement in pacifying party workers at the highly volatile situation that emerged during the day at Bakery Junction in the capital.
