Besides seeking inclusion of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and his office under the ambit of the judicial inquiry, the Opposition Left Democratic Front (LDF) would also insist on the probe looking at the destination of the scam money.

The LDF State committee is likely to forward its response to Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan’s letter seeking its views on the terms of reference of the probe in a day or two. The alliance is firm in its demand that the Chief Minister should step down and face the judicial inquiry. It would reiterate its demand and is likely to make the Chief Minister’s refusal to accept the first demand the reason for it not agreeing to talks on the terms of reference.

The LDF subcommittee constituted to frame the draft terms of reference has enumerated the reasons why the Chief Minister’s ‘role’ in the scam should be inquired into.

Mr. Chandy’s own admission that he had held an hour-long discussion with prime accused Biju Radhakrishnan, the contentions of the main complainants, and circumstantial evidence pointing to the scam accused having had access to him or his office would all form part of the LDF’s demand for the probe against the Chief Minister.
