K.K. Rema says the remarks are against his earlier stance.

K.K. Rema, wife of slain leader of the Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) T.P. Chandrasekharan, has expressed astonishment at the remarks by Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achudanandan that he accepted the report of the CPI(M)-instituted probe in the Chandrashekaran murder case.

She said the remarks by Mr. Achuthandan that he accepted the probe findings of the CPI(M)-instituted inquiry went against his earlier stance seeking a CBI probe in the case. Ms. Rema made these remarks at the inaugural function of the Edathu Paksha Aikya Munnani election convention here on Thursday. “In fact, I do not understand as to why he [Mr. Achuthanandan] said so. It could be part of toeing the party line ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls,” Ms. Rema said.

She criticised Mr. Achuthanandan’s reported remarks that the RMP was a “tail end” of the Congress-led United Democratic Front. She said her party had clear principles based on Communist ideology.

“It is the Left blood that is running in the veins of the RMP and my party would never ever extend support to the UDF. Those who say the RMP is the tail of UDF must justify the manner in which the former AICC member Philipose and businessman Bennet Abraham were contesting the Lok Sabha polls with the support of the CPI(M),” she said.
