Vijayapura Zilla Panchayat President Umesh Kolkur has promised to introduce a toy train in Vijayapura for the children.
He made such a promise while speaking at the inauguration of ‘Makkala Habba’ ( Children’s Festival) here on Friday jointly organized by Karnataka Bal Vikas Academy, Women and Child Welfare Department and Public Instruction Department with an objective of providing a platform to the students to showcase their talent.
He said that he would speak to the Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Panchayat for exploring the possibility of providing this facility to the children here.

In her address, Drakshayani Basavaraj, the newly appointed chairperson of Karnataka Bal Vikas Academy, Dharwad felt that each child was born with some talent.
She said that the parents should not only try to identify that talent, but also encourage them to exhibit it in a right direction.
After the parent, the government should provide platforms such as Makkala Habba where the children get opportunity to showcase their skill and talent before the people, she said.

Ms. Basavaraj said that the academy was holding several innovative programmes for exploiting the hidden talents of the students.
The event was the day for the children as they presented their talents before the people.
With their singing talent, the students of Government Urdu High School here caught the attention of the audiences who appreciated them with a huge round of applause when they sang a Qawali.
Deputy Commissioner, D. Randeep, ZP CEO, K. B. Shivakumar, Planning officer of the academy, Malti Pol, DDPI, S. S. Biradar and Deputy Director, Women and Child Development, Rohini Hiremath were present.
