Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M. Veerappa Moily on Friday said that the return of the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to the Bharatiya Janata Party would further weaken that party.
“His return will lead to disintegration as in the case of the National Democratic Alliance after Narendra Modi’s elevation. This will only become advantageous to the Congress,” he said.
On the demand of a section of Congress workers, who are seeking deputy chief minister’s post for Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president G. Parameshwara, Mr. Moily said it was left to the party high command’s decision.

On AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Digvijay Singh’s announcement on setting up a coordination committee in the State, Mr. Moily said that there was nothing new about having such a panel. “We have coordination panels in all Congress-ruled States,” he said.
Lok Sabha elections
Dismissing the allegations made by the opposition parties that the Union government’s recent decision to promulgate an ordinance to implement the Food Security Bill was to enable early Lok Sabha elections, Mr. Moily said: “We will go for elections as scheduled in April-May 2014. The Food Security ordinance is not for early elections but to ensure that people who are going hungry are fed.”
