State BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa on Thursday used the platform of farmers’ convention organised by his party here to hit out at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. “Teach the Chief Minister a lesson in the coming elections as farmers are in crisis and over 3,000 of them have allegedly committed suicide, but the government has done nothing. Don’t allow him [Siddaramaiah] to win this time. His government has failed to fulfil the aspirations of people,” he told the convention of farmers from Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts, at the Maharaja College Grounds here.
He said the BJP is aiming to win 150 seats and the party leaders will expose the “corrupt” practices of the Congress government during their tour of the State.
Mr. Yeddyurappa claimed that some Opposition MLAs had expressed their wish to join the BJP soon as they were “inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah.”

State BJP vice-president V. Srinivas Prasad inaugurated the convention. State BJP farmers’ wing president and former MP, C.H. Vijayashankar, who is planning to quit the party, was conspicuous by his absence.
