Yadgir to get a lake garden, finally

The entertainment-starved people of Yadgir city would soon have a lung space in the form of a lake garden in nine acres of an artificial island in the middle of the beautiful Sanna Kere.

The dream project of the first Deputy Commissioner of Yadgir district K.G. Jagadeesha is in the final stages of completion. It was Mr. Jagadeesha who conceived the idea of having a garden in the middle of Sanna Kere and released a sum of Rs. 2 crore for the purpose in 2010-11 to develop the lake as a picnic spot.

The construction work was entrusted to Nirmiti Kendra. The authorities plan to introduce boating in Sanna Kere at a nominal fee. A food court would also be established with south and north Indian delicacies. Special Officer of the Nirmiti Kendra told

The Hindu that all basic amenities including drinking water, toilets and others had been established in the garden.

Appreciating the Sanna Kere development work, Lalitha Anpur, Former Chairman of Yadgir City Municipal Council, said many gardens in the city remain undeveloped, and urged the officials to develop such gardens at the earliest and make them picnic spots for the residents.
