Normality is returning to trouble-torn Yadgir after two days of tension following largescale violence by pro-Hindu organisations after the police removed saffron flags erected at a dispute spot near a temple atop a hillock on Sunday night.
All businesses, hotels, shops and other establishments opened their shutters on Tuesday for normal business and public and private transport vehicles operated as usual. On Sunday night, the supporters of different pro-Hindu organisations indulged in indiscriminate violence and damaged public and private property.
At least five persons, including four police personnel, were injured in stone throwing. At least two cars and two motorcycles were damaged and a bangle shop was ransacked by the irate mob.

Superintendent of Police Vamsi Krishna told
Addressing a peace committee meeting, the former Minister and Yadgir MLA A.B. Maalakaraddy appealed to the people to maintain peace and extend cooperation with the district administration and the police to restore normality.
Dr. Maalakaraddy expressed anguish over the loss of property in the violence and the injuries suffered by the victims.

Deputy Commissioner F.R. Jamadar said that the appeal of the peace committee to withdraw cases filed against innocent people and revoke prohibitory orders would be considered sympathetically. He said that the law would take its own course and innocents would not be allowed to become victims.
Mr. Vamsi Krishna, Zilla Panchayat president Bhimanna Krishna Chepetla, the former MLA Veerbasantreddy Mudnal, the former president of the Yadgir City Municipal Council Venkatreddy Mudnal and, Moulali Anpur and A.C. Kadlur were present.
