Ramya, MP, said she had several plans for the district’s complete development.

The newly elected MP participated in an interaction programme with students of PES College of Engineering at S.B. Community Hall here on Friday.

“My candidature for the MP seat in the recently held byelections was the collective decision of the Congress high command,” she told students. Reacting to a question from a student, she said that the party would decide on fielding her in the general elections scheduled for 2014, after considering her performance.

“I want to do good to the society. This field [politics] was not my choice, but, I unexpectedly entered this field,” she said.

‘Fight’

Expressing her displeasure over corruption, she urged officials and people to fight against it. She told students that she had already toured several places in the constituency and studied the prevailing problems.

She promised to “work honestly” to solve the perennial problems that the district is facing.

“My priority is to solve the drinking water and electricity problems across the district. I will also initiate steps to improve the conditions of roads. I have already prepared a list of problems that the district is facing and I will promptly work to resolve them,” she said.
