Will visit K.R. Hospital and set right mess: CM

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Tuesday promised to visit K.R. Hospital in Mysuru during his next visit and set right the irregularities plaguing the hospital.

Addressing a press conference after holding a review meeting with officials of Mysuru district, Mr. Kumaraswamy said he had heard a lot of complaints about the trouble people face at K.R. Hospital. He promised to visit the with MLAs and other elected representatives and find out a solution to the ills plaguing the hospital.

“There is a shortage of doctors. There are not enough ventilators and dialysis machines,” he said and added that the hospital, which is frequented mostly by the poor, was not being maintained properly.

The CM said he had directed the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to come out with a blueprint for the overall development of the city. Problems related to underground drainage, storm water drains and garbage disposal will also be addressed.

He said he had asked the Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru and the Department of Industries to come out with a plan for setting up more industries to increase employment.

Student hostels

In view of the shortage of accommodation for poor students from rural areas studying in educational institutions in Mysuru, Mr. Kumaraswamy said he had directed officials of Social Welfare and Backward Classes Department to immediately take steps to construct about seven to eight hostels in the City.

MUDA had been asked to identify land for setting up the hostels, Mr. Kumaraswamy said, and added that there was no shortage of funds for the construction of new students’ hostels.

The Chief Minister had also asked the Education Department officials to look into the complaint of delay in disbursal of salaries to teachers.
