Manjeshwar Gayatri Prabhu of G.S.S.S. Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru, has emerged topper among the 17 winners of endowment gold medals and cash prizes, which will be distributed at the 15th annual convocation of Visvesvaraya Technological University at 11.30 a.m. on May 27.

Ms. Gayatri won eight gold medals and one cash prize after securing the first rank in B.E. electrical and electronics, and scoring the highest marks among the rank holders in any branch of B.E. and highest marks among the students of engineering colleges affiliated to VTU.

Niveditha M. of Global Academy of Technology, Bengaluru, won six gold medals and one cash prize for securing first rank in B.E. civil engineering. Deepthi Devaraj of B.N.M. Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, won six gold medals for securing first rank and being a topper in B.E. computer science and engineering. Acting Vice-Chancellor of VTU, V. Sridhar, told presspersons here on Monday that B. E. degree would be conferred on 53,972 students, B. Arch on 176 students, MBA on 4,258 students, MCA on 2,730 students, M. Tech. on 7,669 students and M. Arch. on 23 students. As many as 112 students would be conferred Ph. D. degrees 20 would be conferred M. Sc (Engg.) degrees.
He said A.S. Kiran Kumar, chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation, would deliver the convocation address. Vajubhai Vala, Governor, who is also the Chancellor of VTU, would preside over the convocation and confer the degrees.
T.B. Jayachandra, Minister for Higher Education, Law, Justice, Human Rights and Parliamentary Affairs and Pro-Chancellor of VTU would be present.
