Volunteers clean up ponds, plant saplings at Bidare village

More than 200 people associated with Hasiru Bhoomi Trust took part in the work to rejuvenate two ponds at Bidare village in Channarayapatna taluk on Sunday. The participants cleared silt in both ponds and planted saplings on the vacant land around.

The trust has taken up the work of rejuvenation of many water bodies in the district. Many philanthropists, intellectuals, officers and people’s representatives have been contributing funds to these activities. So far, more than 10 water bodies have been rejuvenated by the trust.

Hassan Assistant Commissioner H.L. Nagaraj led the team of volunteers. Members of the trust Roopa Hassan, a writer, Poornima, Deputy Tahsildar of Baguru Hobli, C.N. Ashok, an environmentalist, and others participated.
