Lawyers in Kalaburagi and Belagavi on on Friday condemned the State government’s decision to reject the demand made by the Central Bureau of Investigation to prosecute 54 police personnel allegedly involved in the violence at the Bengaluru City Civil court complex in March 2012 and demanded that the government reconsider its decision and allow the law to take its own course.
Members of the Gulbarga Bar Association boycotted court proceedings and took out a procession to the Deputy commissioner’s office. They were led by the president of the association Vidya Rani Bhat. They submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Vipul Bansal.
Members of the Belagavi Bar Association, led by its president Vinay B. Mangalekar, staged a protest and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister to the Deputy Commissioner.

They said the CBI investigation into the incident had revealed that police officials had violated laws while discharging their duty. They said Chief Minister Siddarmaiah should reconsider the decision and accord permission to the prosecution to file a charge sheet against the accused in the court.
