B.Y. Vijayendra, son of BJP State president B.S. Yedduyrappa, and probable BJP candidate, has strongly criticised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for calling him an ‘outsider’. He demanded the CM illustrate how many days he was in his home constituency Varuna during his five years as CM.
Mr. Vijayendra said the CM was still entertaining a hope of contesting from two constituencies – Chamundeshwari and Badami. He asked him whether he would be an outsider in Badami. The constituency allows anyone to contest from anywhere irrespective of birth or native place, he said, and added that it was unbecoming of a CM to pass a remark like that. He said the CM had not camped either in Varuna or in Chamundeshwari in the last five years and he was very well aware of the fact that people of either constituencies would not support him or his son. Hence, he is opting to contest from Badami, he said, and noted it was unfortunate that a sitting CM was trying to run away from his home constituency.
Mr. Vijayendra also alleged that in order to stay in power, the CM betrayed farmers of Karnataka and released Cauvery water. He noted that people of Varuna, Chamundeshwari and various other places of Mysuru and Mandya were deprived of water for irrigation.
