Veerendra Heggade inaugurates self-help groups

The Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala D. Veerendra Heggade inaugurated a self-help group (SHG) in Mandya on Tuesday. Housing and district in-charge minister M.H. Ambareesh and others were present.

D. Veerendra Heggade, the Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala, on Tuesday inaugurated the 12,501st self-help group (SHG) here.

In a function held at Sri M. Visvesvaraya district stadium, Mr. Heggade inaugurated the SHG and emphasised on the need for women’s empowerment in the present-day world.

The SHGs formed under Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) has been empowering women for the past several years, he said. And, Mr. Heggade urged the women to become part of SHGs as they can bring the desired change, especially in making them self-reliant economically.

The SKDRDP is intended to help poor people to increase their earning capacity, by taking up self-employment, with the financial assistance of Corporation Bank.
