Delay in getting his party Uttama Prajakeeya Paksha (UPP) registered is likely to cost actor and politician Upendra a chance to contest the elections. In all likelihood, he will get his party registered by the end of April, but it will take more time to get the symbol.

Mr. Upendra admitted that it will be difficult to contest in May 12 polls. “I failed in my endeavour of getting UPP registered with the Election Commission. I stayed in Delhi for a week to get registration and symbol before April 25. We need at least 15 days after completing formalities to contest the polls. Under the present circumstances, there are no chances of UPP contesting the polls,” he told The Hindu .

But the actor is already planning ahead. He said UPP will contest in any poll after this one. “UPP candidates, including me, will contest in next Lok Sabha polls,” he said.
