‘Union govt. needs to introduce more economic reforms’

The Union government needs to introduce more economic reforms to increase the rate of growth, Subramanian Swamy, BJP leader, said in Bidar on Saturday.

They have not been implemented till now, he said. But he expressed confidence that they will be implemented soon. We need to keep in mind that all reforms should lead to job growth, he said.

He said that the earlier NDA governments had achieved a high rate of growth by steadily implementing economic reforms. He was interacting with law students at the R.V. Bidap Law College in KRE society’s premises.

He emphasised that economic growth was not the only thing that the country should aim at. We need to develop our own cultural identity and emerge as a great power, he said.

A recent study by the Mysore University has proved that all Indians have the same genetic roots. This has been quoted in the Cambridge University’s Journal of Genetics. This proves that all differences based on caste, race, colour, language or region were artificially created, he said.

Even today, foreign nations recognise India’s heritage as valuable. The study of Sanskrit language is an essential part of artificial intelligence research in USA. However, when we speak of teaching Sanskrit to students, we are branded as communal, he said.

He asked the government to help farmers export farm produce after processing and storing it. This will ensure remunerative pricing of food and other produce. This will improve the life of farmers, he said. He asked farm scientists to help farmers improve farm and animal yields while reducing the cost of cultivation and animal rearing. Farmers need to be trained in advanced farming practices and use of internet, he said.

He chided the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as a circus lion. “My friends asked me why was Manmohan Singh afraid of Sonia Gandhi. I told them that that was because he was a circus lion,” he said.
