Two Tulu folk CDs to be released tomorrow

The Prachyasanchaya Samshodhana Kendra and Sahitya Balaga will organise a function to release two CDs of Tulu folk songs and poems collected and sung by the researcher-scholar late P. Susheela Upadhyaya here on April 24.

S.A. Krishnayya, member of Syndicate of Karnataka Folklore University, Haveri, told reporters here on Friday late Susheela Upadhyaya and her husband scholar-researcher U.P. Upadhyaya had brought out six volumes of Tulu lexicon, which had won widespread acclaim.

Late Susheela Upadhyaya was a scholar in Beary language also.

While one CD contains four big Tulu poems, the other CD has 60 Tulu “padadanas,” “sandhi,” “uralu,” “kabite,” poems and songs sung by Susheela Upadhyaya. The CDs will be released by K. Chinnappa Gowda, Vice Chancellor of Karnataka Folklore University.
