Two die in car-lorry collision near Sullia

A car and a lorry collided near Sullia on Monday, resulting in the death of two of the four persons travelling in the car.

The car passengers were on their way from Kadanga in Virajpet of Kodagu district to Mangaluru to get treatment in a hospital. The accident occurred at Gunadka on the Mangaluru-Mysuru national highway.

Police gave the names of the victims as Maqbool (40), and Yusuf (50), who was driving the car. Zuleikha, Maqbool’s wife, and Saleem, his son, were seriously injured and have been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru for treatment.

A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against Nishad, driver of the container lorry loaded with coffee, police said.
