Two debt-ridden farmers end life

Two debt-ridden farmers committed suicide in as many incidents in Raichur and Yadgir districts on Sunday evening. In Raichur, a 35-year-old farmer hanged himself to death in Koppur village of Deodurg taluk. The victim was identified as Nagappa Siddappa. According to sources, the victim was depressed after his cotton crop, in seven acres of land, withered due to lack of rain. He had availed himself of Rs. 2.35 lakh loan from a bank and moneylenders.

In Yadgir, a 34-year-old farmer hanged himself to death in Shahapur taluk. The victim was identified as Bhimanna Timmanna. According to family sources, the farmer was upset after his cotton and red gram crop, cultivated in five acres of land, failed due to lack of rain. He had taken a loan of Rs. 1 lakh. However, the police are yet to ascertain the details.
