Activists of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike staged a protest in the city on Tuesday alleging that exorbitant fee was being charged for using the parking lot and the public toilets at the bus stand of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) in the city.

Addressing the protesters, Vedike office-bearer Manjunath Kotian said that, private contractors are charging exorbitantly from the users and are thereby violating the terms and conditions of the contract.

Despite several complaints, the KSRTC has not acted against the erring contractors, he said.

The information on fee should be displayed prominently and the KSRTC should set up a lodge, a pharmacy, cloakroom, and ATM on the bus stand premises. Space should be set aside for providing amenities for passengers, he said.

The protesters also blocked the road for some time near Ashoka Circle to express their outrage over the pathetic state of affairs at the KSRTC bus stand.
