The government has traced the source spurious fertilizers, being sold in some parts of the State, to a fertilizer factory in Vaniyambadi in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu.
The factory has now been raided and sealed, said Minister of State for Agriculture Krishna Byre Gowda on Monday in the Legislative Assembly.
Mr. Gowda said that after getting information on production of spurious fertilizers, a team of officials from Agriculture Department rushed to Vaniyambadi and raided a factory being run by one Devaraju and took him in to custody with the support of police.

Making an impromptu statement in this regard, as assured to the House, Mr. Gowda said that, six persons were arrested in connection with the sale of spurious potash by cooperative societies in various parts of the State.
Officials have seized bags of spurious fertilizers from a few Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies and sent them to laboratories for testing.
