Three arrested for stealing car

Three youths have been arrested by the police in Tirthahalli town on the charges of stealing a vehicle. The arrested Naveen (25), Chethan and Swamy, both aged 24, are all residents of Bengaluru.

Police have said that after visiting temples and beaches in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in a car belonging to a person of their acquaintance, the three were returning to Bengaluru via Tirthahalli. They had stolen a car belonging to one Manjunath Gowda in Nalur village. While on their way, the stolen vehicle turned turtle near Kolagi village. The three left the vehicle behind and carried on to Tirthahalli.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gowda had informed the police about the theft. The police were waiting near Corporation Bank in Tirthahalli town to nab the thieves. On seeing the police, they tried to flee but were caught.

Based on the complaint lodged by Mr. Gowda, Agumbe police have booked a case under section 379 (punishment for theft) of Indian Penal Code against the arrested.
