Seer of Siddaganga Math Shivakumara Swami has said that Shivarudrappa's death is a great loss to the State and Kannada literature.

Seer of Siddaganga Math Shivakumara Swami has condoled the death of G.S. Shivarudrappa. In a press release, Dr. Shivakumara Swami has said that Shivarudrappa was a student of Siddaganga Math during 1941-1944 here.

He studied an intermediate course in the Government College in Tumkur and also at the Sanskrit Patashaala run by the math.

He was given the “Siddaganga Shree” award by Dr. Shivakumara Swami on February 2, 2009.

He wrote a poem, “Siddaganga Sri Charanadalli”, on Siddaganga Math which is published on a pocket calendar every year by the math.

Dr. Shivakumara Swami has said that Shivarudrappa was a simple man with a soft nature. The death of the math’s old student is a great loss to the State and Kannada literature, he added.

The district units of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the Centre of Indian Trade Unions and the Democratic Youth Federation of India have also expressed condolences.

Iin a press release, district secretary of CPI(M) Syed Mujeeb has said that the State has lost a great poet.

District general secretary of DYFI S. Raghavendra has said that Shivarudrappa had concern for the working class and progressive movements.
