Nearly 1,500 LPG customers of a gas agency here have reportedly refused to submit Aadhar and bank account details to avail themselves of subsidy for domestic cooking gas cylinders.
For, they are cut up with the procedure and the time consuming process that entails upon them to make visits to the LPG distributor and banks, cross-check if seeding has taken place or not.
Mehul Patel, an LPG dealer, said that they flatly refused to submit the documents and said they did not want to go through the hassles of standing in queue to procure an Aadhar card. “We are prepared to pay the market price for the cylinders and do not want to have anything to do with the subsidy transfer,” was their refrain, according to Mr. Patel.

Likewise, another LPG dealer admitted that about 5 per cent of his customer base of nearly 25,000 did not want to go through the process. There could be more such customers but these were obviously a minority group who belonged to the high income category and could afford to shell out the market price of an LPG cylinder now pegged at Rs. 840.
