There is no reason to panic. Cities like Bangalore and Mysore which depend on Cauvery water supply for their drinking water requirements have enough supplies till the end of June given the current storage in the Krishnarajasagar (KRS) reservoir, according to Major and Medium Irrigation Minister M.B. Patil.
He was speaking at a press conference in Bangalore on Saturday after reviewing the water storage position in the Cauvery basin reservoirs. According to him, the KRS has a live storage of 1.59 tmcft of water, Hemavathy has 1.66 tmcft and Harangi 0.78 tmcft of water.
Steps have been taken to plug the leakages in the supply system from the Cauvery reservoirs.

At the same time, his department is ready with alternative plans to handle any crisis with respect to drinking water shortage. The plan included drilling borewells, repairing the existing borewells and supplying water through tankers.
The Minister, who visited the KRS and other reservoirs in the Cauvery basin, said the recent spells of rain had not contributed to any significant improvement in the storage level in the Cauvery basin reservoirs.
