Indian company Josh Mobiles launched Josh Fortune Square, a dual-SIM Android phone priced at Rs. 2,999.
A release from the company calls it a “speed master”. A press release from the company stated that it had a 1 gigahertz processor and a 3.5-inch touchscreen and a 2-megapixel camera. Speaking at the launch, Deepak Gupta, director of Josh Mobiles, said: “Fortune Square has been designed keeping in mind the needs of smartphone lovers who need all in their gadget. Fortune Square promises to suit the requirement of every entertainment lover. Priced at Rs. 2,999, it is a real budget offering.”

FOR THE ‘INTERNET OF THINGS’
Embedded software solutions firm WindRiver introduced the latest version of Wind River Intelligent Device Platform, a complete software development environment used for building machine-to-machine applications and devices that communicate with the cloud. The platform provides ready-to-use components to secure, manage, and connect Internet of Things gateways, a release from WindRiver stated.
“Making the most of IoT means integrating new and existing devices in an operationally efficient ecosystem, and connecting via gateways will be the most practical way to achieve scalability and minimise cost,” said Santhosh Nair, general manager of intelligent systems group at Wind River, in a release. Among the key features offered are gateway security, application enablement and device connectivity.

PLATFORM FOR SEMICONDUCTOR DESIGNERS
Electronics design firm Cadence Design Systems held its annual conference CDNLive India 2013 this week. It saw wide participation from the semiconductor industry. The conference aimed to provide a platform to semiconductor designers to network and share best practices and understand the latest solutions in low power, mixed-signal and advanced node design. Cadence president and CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, delivered the keynote on ‘Exciting opportunities for great new products’, highlighting key strategic developments that have impacted the growth of the global EDA and semiconductor industry. Speaking at the event, Jaswinder Ahuja, corporate vice-president and managing director of Cadence said that the conference had grown, both in terms of number of attendees and quality of papers presented.
