Daruru Purushotamag Gouda, president of district unit of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene, has urged the Deputy Commissioner, Tumkuru, to intervene immediately to end the middlemen menace and prevent injustice being meted out to paddy growers and paddy traders in the district.

Several paddy growers have observed how the middlemen were cheating them in weighing, extracting more commission and other charges compared to that of the rice mill.

Moreover, the middlemen have been giving their own receipt and not the one provided by the rice mills.

He said that a memorandum was submitted to Deputy Commissioner, Tumkuru, through his Ballari counterpart, urging him to initiate necessary action to prevent injustice being meted out to the farmers, besides ensuring that the farmers would be permitted to deal directly with the rice mills without the interference of the middlemen.
