In a recent survey, Swachh Sarvekshan, conducted by Raichur City Municipal Council (CMC), the office of the Superintendent of Police, located off Hyderabad Road here, has emerged as the cleanest among government offices in Raichur city.
Over the last 15 days, the CMC surveyed 42 buildings and their premises where various government departments are housed. They were judged on three major parameters - sanitation infrastructure inside the office (50 per cent), cleanliness inside and outside the office (40 per cent) and solid waste management in the office (10 per cent).
Speaking to The Hindu, K. Gurulingappa, Commissioner of CMC, said that only those government offices with their own-buildings are taken for survey in the first phase.

"There are nearly 100 government offices in the city. Many of them are operating out of rented spaces. We have taken government offices with own buildings for survey in the first phase. We will submit the report to Deputy Commissioner soon and the top-ranking offices would be selected for awards under Swachh Sarvekshan," he said.
The CMC has planned to survey those offices that are operating in rented spaces, offices of public sector undertakings such as banks, government and private institutions such as hospitals, schools and colleges in the second and third phases.
"Swachh Bharat Abhiyan could be successful only when every citizen actively participates in it. All the government employees should lead the movement by keeping their office surroundings clean. The survey for rating the office premises will help in this regard,” he said.
