Efforts were stepped up to shore up public participation for Swachh Survekshan-2018 with the launch of Citizens Forum for Swachh Mysuru, here on Sunday.
The survey to evaluate the cleanliness of the city and rank it among the 4,041 urban local bodies (ULBs) across the country is now under way and will be completed in a phase-wise manner by March 10. But, the date for the spot evaluation of the city is yet to be announced.
In the meantime, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has submitted the documentation pertaining to self-evaluation and the focus is on garnering public feedback.

The former MLC, D. Made Gowda, who is one of the persons spearheading the campaign, said though nearly 30,000 downloads of the Swachhata App has been completed, it was imperative to put it into use by uploading comments and feedback. “Our goal is to ensure that at least 3 lakh feedback is generated,” he said.
Meanwhile, various organisations, including the Rotary, Lions, among others have joined the list of NGOs to have come forward to download the app and submit the feedback.
The evaluation under Swachh Survekshan this year has 4,000 marks of which 400 marks is for app download while another 1,000 is for public feedback and it was a feeble public response that cost the Mysuru an opportunity to make it a hat trick (of being declared as the cleanest city for three years in a row).

The newly floated citizens forum was launched in the presence of Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, and others. In the run up to the evaluation, the authorities have also tapped the offices of the religious leaders, including the Suttur Mutt seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami, Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swami, the Bishop of Mysuru, Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, among others.
