M.K. Suresh, who was recently suspended from the post of Chief Officer of Sorab Town Panchayat (TP), has lodged a complaint with the police against Sorab MLA Madhu Bangarappa alleging the later verbally abused and intimidated him.
It may be mentioned here that at a TP meeting on May 10, Mr. Bangarappa had expressed his displeasure against Mr. Suresh’s methods of working. On the same day, Deputy Commissioner V.P. Ikkeri passed an order suspending Mr. Suresh for his alleged failure to present a satisfactory reply to a notice issued regarding allegations of irregularities in purchasing dustbins.
In the complaint lodged with Sorab town police, Mr. Suresh has alleged that some elected members of the TP had levelled allegations against him in the meeting on May 10 and that he had responded with a satisfactory reply. “Mr. Bangarappa had expressed displeasure against me for not furnishing documents that he had sought with regard to administration of TP. Mr. Bangarappa also verbally abused, defamed and intimidated me in the meeting,” he has said and has requested the police to initiate action against Mr. Bangarappa.

The police have admitted the complaint but have not yet registered a case. They have said that further action would be initiated after a preliminary investigation has been conducted.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bangarappa has denied the allegations levelled against him. He told presspersons that the elected representatives were not happy with Mr. Suresh’s style of functioning and the issue was brought to the notice of Deputy Commissioner too. Mr. Suresh was also not furnishing the documents sought by the elected representatives over administrative issues, he said.
