Surplus budget of ₹5 crore for 2017-18 presented

Yadgir City Municipal Council has presented a surplus budget of ₹5 crore for 2017-18.

Venkatesh Telkar, Account Officer, presented the budget at a special meeting chaired by Shashidhar Reddy Hosalli, president of the council, on Monday. The council has expected an income of ₹59.13 crore from all sources and estimated expenditure of ₹53.74 crore, while ₹5 crore would remain as surplus for the year, he said.

Of the ₹59.13 crore income, ₹196 lakh was from tax on property, followed by water tax of ₹79.20 lakh, rent from commercial shops of ₹29 lakh, development charges of ₹15.68 lakh, license fee of ₹2.30 lakh, salary grant of ₹250.91 lakh, electricity grant of ₹589.22 lakh, 14th finance grant of ₹296.29 lakh and ₹4,500 lakh from other sources.

The council aimed to provide services for citizens by implementing projects particularly on drinking water, sanitation, road and drainage. Officials aimed to earmark ₹53.74 crore for the expenditure for the year.

An amount of ₹250 lakh was earmarked to construct new roads in the city. Drainage at the cost of ₹612 lakh, followed by ₹30 lakh for purchasing new vehicles, ₹16 lakh for vehicle rent, ₹250 lakh for construction of buildings, ₹5 lakh for road repair, ₹98 lakh for big drainages, ₹40 lakh for street light maintenance, ₹282 lakh for electricity bill on water supply, ₹2,100 lakh for development works, ₹250 lakh for salaries for employees and workers and ₹1,150 lakh for others, he said adding that Rs 5 crore would be remained as surplus after expenditure estimated.

Samson Malikeri, vice-president of the council, Nazim Ahmed, chairman, Standing Committee, elected and nominated members and others were present.
