Students attend career guidance programme

Students from the Government College for Women looking at the displays at the career guidance programme held on the college premises in Mandya on Thursday.

Hundreds of students from the Government College for Women (GCW) attended a career guidance programme, organised by the Employment Information and Guidance Centre (University of Mysore), at their college on Bengaluru–Mysuru highway here on Thursday.

A. Venkateshappa, Deputy Chief of the guidance centre, and P. Vasumati, Assistant Professor, JSS Arts, Commerce and Science College, Mysuru, provided tips to students on facing interviews, selecting the right jobs after completing graduation and so on.

The guidance centre had also organised an exhibition at the college on job opportunities in the armed forces, banking and other sectors. The students also received a lot of information from the displays at the exhibition.

V.S. Sridevi, professor, GCW, inaugurated the programme. Leela Appaji, principal of GCW, and N.M. Mahesh, convener of the Placement Cell (GCW) were present.
