Student from Arunachal assaulted

A student from Arunachal Pradesh was allegedly beaten up and forced to lick his house owner’s shoes for using excessive water, a top police official said here on Friday.

“A student from Arunachal Pradesh was beaten up and the police are investigating the student’s claim that he was forced to lick his house owner’s shoes for using excessive water,” DCP (South East) M.B. Boralingaiagh said.

The house owner had been identified as Hemanth Kumar, he said, adding that a case had been registered following a complaint from Higio Guntey, a fourth-semester student of Christ University, Mr. Boralingaiah said.

The incident took place on March 6 and the case was registered on Thursday, he said. Kumar has surrendered and the police are investigating.
