Amendment to Lokayukta Act has cleared all confusions, he says

K.S. Eshwarappa, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, has said that Bharatiya Janata Party will initiate measures aimed at getting Lokayukta Y. Bhaskar Rao removed during the forthcoming session of State Legislature.

During the monsoon session of the State Legislature, the BJP and Janata Dal (Secular) had submitted a petition to Chairman of the Legislative Council seeking permission to move a motion for the removal of the Lokayukta. As all the confusions related to the procedure to be followed for removing the Lokayukta had been cleared with the introduction of the amendment to Karnataka Lokayukta Act, the BJP would pursue the matter again during the forthcoming session, he told presspersons here on Friday.

Commenting on the reported statement of State president of the Janata Dal (S) H.D. Kumaraswamy that his party would not allow any time being wasted during the ensuing session by focussing the discussion on the controversy surrounding Tipu Sultan’s birth anniversary, he said that the Congress government’s decision to celebrate Tipu Sultan’s birth anniversary had disturbed social amity and BJP would certainly raise the issue. Mr. Kumaraswamy could not dictate terms on the BJP, he said.Mr. Eshwarappa flayed Home Minister G. Parameshwara for his remarks on the Cubbon Park gang rape incident.

It was unfortunate that the Minister had named the victim as responsible for the incident.

The State government had failed to prevent atrocities on women, he said.
