State-level sanitation campaign to be launched today

H.K. Patil, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, will inaugurate a week-long campaign to create awareness among people about the importance of drinking water and sanitation, at Koppal on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Deputy Commissioner R.R. Jannu and Koppal Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Krishna Udupudi are overseeing the arrangements being made at the public ground. Presidents and vice-presidents of zilla and taluk panchayats from all over the State have been invited.

Elected representatives from zilla and taluk pandyats of surrounding six districts too will attend.

As a prelude, a procession of tableaux depicting various aspects of Swachh Bharat campaign, pure drinking water units, agriculture, women and child development, Kinnal art among others will be taken out from district stadium at 2 p.m.

There will also be an exhibition of equipment/materials for individual toilet, pure drinking water units among other things.

Raghavendra Hitnal, MLA, will preside. Karadi Sanganna, MP, and Amaresh Kulagi, ZP president, will be the chief guests.
