As the Union government has reduced the kerosene quota for Karnataka, the State government is contemplating reducing the quantity of kerosene being given to ration card holders under public distribution system (PDS), Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies, has said.

Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, Mr. Rao said, the Union government had reduced the kerosene quota for the State by 7 per cent.

Therefore, the government was unable to provide the full quantity of kerosene allotted to each card holder.
