State to get separate cadre for Intelligence wing

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on Saturday, announced that a separate cadre for the Intelligence wing would be created soon.

Speaking at the annual review meeting at the State police headquarters here on Saturday, he said, “We have decided to create a separate cadre for Intelligence. After recruitment, training will be conducted to make them professional.” Hundred officers will be recruited this year, he said.

The Chief Minister also announced that the Excise Enforcement and Lottery Prohibition Wing would be scrapped and merged with the district police or commissionerate to contain the growing menace of illegal lottery, matka and sand mafia in the State. Though there are 41 squads in the wing, they are not effectively functioning, he said.Mr. Siddaramaiah directed the police to review history-sheeter records in their jurisdiction and take stern action against anti-social elements in the wake of the upcoming elections. He also directed all Additional Director-General of Police to visit districts regularly and supervise investigations to ensure law and order.
