In a bid to attract British companies to the State, the Karnataka government has offered to establish “designated” areas for industries along the Mumbai-Bangalore industrial corridor project.
“The government is willing to offer dedicated and designated industrial areas along the corridor to investors from the U.K. We are also ready to appoint liaison officers who can handle the tricky red tape here,” Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee told visiting U.K. delegates at an interaction programme.
The U.K. delegation with representatives of 21 companies, which are a part of the North East of England Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC), was headed by Iain Wright, British MP. The event was organised by Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre.

Mr. Mukherjee said, “You will see that Karnataka is similar to North England or Wales. The State is future-oriented, not transaction-oriented.”
Stan Higgins, CEO, NEPIC, said the group represented over 650 companies operating in North East England, most of which were small and medium enterprises. The group mainly represents the interests of chemical, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals.
