State Film Awards conferred

The government is mulling extending the film subsidy to more number of films to help the industry, Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda said here Tuesday, inaugurating the State Film Awards 2009-10 function here.

The government was providing subsidy to 75 films and planned to up it to 100 from the next year, he said.

The State Film Awards were conferred on 34 film personalities including actors, producers, technicians, playback singers as well as industry veterans.

The awardees were given a certificate, statuette and cash prize by the Chief Minister, who was accompanied by Home Minister R. Ashok, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president K.V. Chandrashekar and Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy chairperson Tara Anuradha.

Veteran actor R.N. Sudarshan was conferred the prestigious Dr. Rajkumar award and director C.V. Shivashankar received Puttanna Kanagal award. S.D. Ankalagi, who produced first cinemascope film in Kannada, was given Dr. Vishnuvardhan award.
